Why Do You Need A Compliance Certificate in Victoria?

In Victoria, new pool fencing regulations were enacted on 1 December 2019, requiring that every swimming pool and spa must be examined by a registered inspector and a Certificate of Compliance must be obtained and submitted to Council every four years. At Pool Fencing Inspections, we are qualified and authorised to carry out assessments, inspections and to issue compliance certificates once your pool barrier meets the applicable regulations and standards.

What is the Process for Gaining a Certificate of Compliance?

1. Register Your Pool or Spa with Your Council By 1 November, 2020, if you have a pool or spa in your backyard, it must be registered with your local council. once receive back from your council a letter stating the build date and applicable barrier standard, you can arrange for an inspection.

2. Book an Onsite Inspection – We are more than happy to come and do the onsite inspection to ensure your pool safety barrier is compliant, and conforms with required Australian Standards for pool safety. If your pool safety barrier is not compliant, then you have 60 more days to make the necessary amendments.

3.  Lodge Your Certificate with Your Council – If your pool safety barrier complies with the applicable barrier standard, we will issue a certificate of compliance that can be lodged with your relevant council.

What Happens if My Pool Fence is Not Compliant?

If it has been determined by our inspector your pool fencing is not compliant, we may issue you a written report specifying the problems that must be fixed to bring the barrier into compliance. You may be given up to a maximum of 60 days to fix the barriers, gates and doors if applicable and the date and time to conduct re-inspection will also be scheduled.

On the day of re-inspection, we will check all the essential aspects of your pool fencing and issue a Compliance Certificate, providing the barrier meets the required standard.
